'Homelessness should never be seen as a normal part of growing up'

Today St Basils is the largest regional agency working with young people to prevent homelessness by providing accommodation and support services with 24 accommodation projects, in Birmingham, Solihull and Redditch, offering 350+ units per night, plus offering advice, education, mediation, and many other services. They now work with over 4500 young people every year. They believe that it is not enough to deal with the results of homelessness. If we are to help young people to gain real independence we have to address the causes of homelessness and make efforts to prevent homelessness blighting the lives of 16 to 25 year olds. Every year St Basils has to raise over £500,000 in charitable donations to maintain their services.
