Information for employer about Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is a great way for you to demonstrate a commitment to the causes your employees care about. This makes a positive impression on your employees and helps to build their allegiance to organisation and satisfaction to be a member of it; a happy workforce is a productive workforce.
Payroll Giving is easy to opt in and out of, giving employees full control over their giving. All modern payroll systems can facilitate the deductions, usually as a simple tick box option. Your payroll staff will deduct the amount, as per any other pre-tax deduction (after National Insurance, but before tax) and forward it on to a Payroll Giving Agency (who is registered with the Inland Revenue to administer the donation) and they will distribute the monies to the chosen charities.
There are no tax forms to complete and record keeping is straightforward. Your selected Payroll Giving Agency (there are 3 main Agency's to choose from) will supply you with all the necessary help and advice to ensure that your scheme runs smoothly from the start. You can of course contact the Five of Hearts Team for help and advice too!
All your employees need to do is ask the payroll department to deduct regular charitable donations from their salary by filling out a simple application form, outlining how much they would like to give and to which charity.... hopefully the Five of Hearts.
If you successfully promote your Scheme to your employees, could be eligible for the nationally recognised Payroll Giving Quality Mark which awards companies who foster a strong culture for giving in the workplace. Further information can be found the Payroll Giving Centre's Website
